I'm looking for...

  • Accreditation

    • What is CMU’s current regional accreditation status with the Higher Learning Commission? View CMU’s Stipulations on Accreditation. This will tell you our current ‘permissions’ and the things we currently do not have permissions to do. Be sure to review if you are considering doctoral education and degree programs in partnerships with international institutions.
    • What specialized accreditations does CMU currently have? Follow this link for a list of currently accredited programs from the Bulletin. It includes list of the last decision and when next review is expected.
    • If I have a program that wants to seek specialized accreditation, what do I need to do?
      (1) Seek approval through the Academic Planning Council - form and instructions.
      (2) Seek support from Academic Affairs as you prepare self study as they have experience and access to some ‘canned statements’ about CMU, CMU organizational chart, etc. Call Academic Affairs (x3631 or aaoffice@cmich.edu) to setup an appointment.
      (3) Seek review of Director for Curriculum and Assessment (aaoffice@cmich.edu) prior to requesting provost or president to sign transmittal form to accrediting body.
      (4) When a site visit occurs, complete the pre-visit form and send to Director for Curriculum and Assessment (aaoffice@cmich.edu) one week prior to visit. Director will transmit to president and provost.
      (5) Assure that all official correspondence and documents are given to Academic Affairs for CMU’s official files. Send electronically to aaoffice@cmich.edu or in paper form to 312 Warriner.

  • Agreements

    • How can I find out if we have an affiliation agreement established with another institution or organization? You may review the Agreements Searchable Database using a variety of criteria including academic program, agency, or start and end dates. International agreements are included in this database as well.
    • What if we don't already have an agreement in place? How do we begin the process of getting one? Review the Affiliation Agreement Procedures and Guidelines handbook for detailed instructions. Refer to the Agreements Website for more information.

  • Annual Reports

    • Where do I find information about what needs to be included in the College annual report that is provided to the Provost at the end of each spring semester? The annual report format was piloted in the 2008-09 academic year. It may be revised in the future based on input provided by the Deans to the Provost. It is unlikely to vary much, however. Therefore, a careful review of those requirements will assist you in planning for the future.
    • How do I extract information from OFIS to include in my report? Instructions for extracting data from OFIS can be found here.

  • Honors Program

    • Who are currently designated as Honors faculty, how do they apply, and what are the expectations of an Honors faculty member? See requirements.
    • What honors courses are being offered each semester and what honors courses are expected to be offered by departments annually on the Honors Master Course List? See course offerings.
    • What are the admission requirements and fast facts about the Honors Program?
    • What is the Centralis scholarship all about? See scholarship opportunities.
    • How does one propose a new Honors Course? New Honors course solicitation letters are sent in the early fall to all approved honors faculty members. Six to ten new honors courses are approved annually, and departments are provided faculty replacement costs plus $1,000 for all new HON courses approved and offered. Prior chair approval to offer any new honors course must be obtained by the faculty member.  Contact the Honors Department at honors@cmich.edu or call x3902 for more information.
