Overview

Gerontology is the wholistic study of aging. It assumes that physical aging occurs in concert with psychological and social aging. Individual aging is nested in historical time and social location.

Gerontology at CMU is both an interdisciplinary minor and a graduate certificate drawing courses from the health sciences, sociology, psychology, and human development. Electives are selected from recreation therapy, religion, health, psychology, communication disorders and others.  The minor is comprised of 33 credits and the graduate certificate is compromised of 18 credits.
